AJW AVIATION LAUNCHES 2010 EDUCATIONAL BURSARY AND SPONSORS 2010 LEADER OF THE YEAR AWARD A J Walter Aviation, the leading independent complete aircraft support specialist, launched its 2010 MSc Aircraft Maintenance Management bursary award in association with City University London at MRO Africa in Algiers today. AJW is the official global sponsor of this course and also offers a bursary to one deserving student annually, which in the past has included employees from Ethiopian Airlines, Emirates Airline and Czech Airlines. The MSc programme is supported by visiting lecturers from leading airlines including British Airways, Lufthansa and Emirates. This year the bursary opportunity is open to applicants from an airline from North Africa & Eastern Mediterranean and further information may be obtained by email at bursary@ajw-aviation.com. AJW has also confirmed that it is once again the official sponsor of the 'Leader of the Year' award to be presented at the Flight Achievement Awards 2010 during the Farnborough Air Show in July this year. ‘Leader of the Year’ will be won by the aviation or aerospace industry executive who has displayed exemplary business vision and inspirational leadership throughout the year. The Awards were first held at the Dubai Air Show 2009 where, along with visionary Branson for Virgin Galactic and hero Sullenberger for the Airbus Hudson landing, Bob Mitchell from Northrop Grumman was awarded ‘Leader of the Year’ for his enormous contribution to a series of unmanned technologies he has helped bring to reality, culminating in the Global Hawk – the world’s first high altitude, long-endurance autonomous unmanned air vehicle. Joining AJW as sponsors at the 2010 awards will be Boeing ('Engineering Student of the Year'), Bombardier (‘Innovator of the Year’) and ADAT (‘Aviator of the Year’).
