GERMANIA CHOOSES A J WALTER AVIATION FOR A GROUND-BREAKING TEN YEAR PBH COMPONENT SUPPORT CONTRACT

Commencing on March 1st 2011, the contract is for Germania’s total existing fleet of B737NG and A320 family aircraft, moving to an all Airbus fleet of fifteen aircraft by 2013.

London, 10th March 2011: Germania, the privately owned airline based in Berlin,  has awarded A J Walter Aviation a multi-million dollar contract to provide component power-by-the-hour support for its Airbus A319 and Boeing 737-700 fleets.  Winning this long-term ten year agreement is yet another step forward for AJW, the world’s leading independent integrated aircraft support specialist, and represents its first major contract award in the demanding German aviation marketplace.

Germania is upgrading its entire fleet over the next 3 years to a modern all Airbus fleet which will be fully supported by AJW’s extensive power-by-the-hour support programme.

“We are extremely proud to be working with Germania, Germany’s leading private airline.  This leading leasing, charter and single seat sales specialist is going from strength to strength in a highly competitive marketplace” says Boris Wolstenholme, Chief Executive of AJW. “Our low cost base, world class logistics and a flexible commercial approach makes us the ideal partner to support what is going to be an extensive route network.  Germania works with several leading tour operators including Thomas Cook Airlines whose fleet of 29 A330 and A320 family aircraft are also fully supported on power-by-the-hour by AJW.”

Axel Trampnau, CEO of Germania, commented:  “We have been impressed by AJW’s professional attitude and delivery at all stages of the tender process and we have full confidence in the ability of AJW to deliver on all our expectations. This important single contract helps to streamline our business operations. We fly to 30 destinations and carry more than 3 million passengers annually and so it is critical we maintain 24/7 operability to deliver to our prestigious customers who rightly demand 100% reliability.  AJW will now hold strategic inventory in Berlin as well as in Prague and London which gives Germania complete peace of mind.”

This new contract once again underlines the benefits of PBH, pooling and leasing options available from AJW.  Already highly regarded for its award-winning 24/7 AOG and critical component services, AJW is also currently growing its integrated consumables management and aircraft engine services business.  Serving a global customer base of more than 700 airlines with over 350 aircraft under contract AJW is fast becoming the partner of choice to offer fully integrated support solutions to airline and MRO organisations seeking competitive advantage.
