BOEING SHANGHAI AVIATION SERVICES AGREES COMPONENT SUPPORT CONTRACT WITH a j walter aviation

Recognising a need to deliver outstanding support for its customers out of Shanghai this new independent MRO facility has chosen AJW as a key supplier to assist in the growth of its existing operations.

Tuesday 26th October, LONDON:  A J Walter Aviation, the world’s leading independent component support specialist, has been appointed by Boeing Shanghai Aviation Services to provide a range of support services for its B737/747/767 maintenance activities.  “This is 3-year contract for loan, exchange, sale, consignment and repair management services” explains Christopher Whiteside, President, A J Walter Aviation, who emphasised that “it will allow the new MRO facility to utilise AJW’s extensive Boeing inventory to underpin its growing operations at Pudong International Airport”.

Boeing Shanghai Aviation Services is a joint venture between Boeing, Shanghai Pudong International Airport and Shanghai Airlines which is able to provide full maintenance activities as well as B747-400 cargo conversions.  With its new hangar facility the MRO is able to take up to four narrow body or two wide body aircraft at any one time.  A clear advantage of the facility is its ability to combine the skills, quality and knowledge of an airframe manufacturer, an airline and a component logistics specialist to provide a world-class service.

Boeing Shanghai chose AJW for its award-winning 24/7 customer service, its logistical and operational expertise, and its repair management excellence, all backed by its assured quality and reliability programmes.  Of particular importance is the guaranteed component availability that AJW can provide from its significant inventories of more than 400,000 spare parts valued at a minimum of $350m.  These support all modern in-service Boeing and Airbus fleets and comprise with over 90% of ATA Chapter coverage.
